Well spotted flops and forgiveness from the weekend’s races

Here’s our assessment of some of the more beloved beaten runners from Saturday’s races at Rosehill and Sandown – as well as a few from Friday night’s The Valley – and whether you should forgive them or forget them.

FORGIVE

Ferrari (1.90 F) – Rosehill R10 (1100 m)

Factional in barriers and then slowed. He rode strongly in the run but was unable to get a clear hit on them when Molly Bourkeon board Shezanalisterhe had Pharari in his pocket. I left late, but by that stage it was all over. She will bounce back.

An extraordinary legacy (F$3.20) – Rosehill R4 (1900m)

It’s simple and straightforward here. Firestorm had James McDonald on board and Unusual Legacy did not. That’s what cost him.

I’d like to win ($5) – The Valley R7 (1200m)

In hindsight, it’s great, but the Valley sprint isn’t his setup – he still did pretty well on his two prep runs, but getting to them on the way to the W is a tough map challenge for him in those conditions.

Hayasugi ($6.50) – R7 Valley (1200m)

She didn’t race very generously in the middle stages and was beaten 5L. Connections reported that she didn’t feel like choking, so it would be more of a success to improve it.

Estriella ($7.50) – R7 Valley (1200m)

Sorry if you head to Flemington or Randwick next, but as Shinn reported after the race, he doesn’t seem to be fond of tight valley corners.

Craig (2.60F) – Sandown R7 (1500m)

It’s been a rollercoaster so far if you support this guy – win, lose, win, lose, win, lose in his six starts in Australia, with some of those losses in short quotes (and in a devilish way). Either way, I think you need to stick with him – work out the problems, maybe he can put a few together.

FORGET (bag)

Strathtay (2.90 F) – Rosehill R3 (2400 m)

Hopefully everything would go his way, but he could still only get a distant third. Consider this the last time Strathtay will be the favorite in a Group 3 competition.

Gatsby (1.65 F) – Rosehill R5 (1100 m)

This horse made a huge impression from the start and the shine disappeared in San Domenico. Now it’s well and truly off Sweat beat him in Heritage.

Tropical squall ($11) – Rosehill R7 (1400m)

After Saturday’s run, her pension will be $1.01. This time her results in two sets are well below par, but we are sure she will be a great mother.

Heavenly Legend (F$3.20) – Rosehill R9 (1500m)

I forgave him at first because of his poor new record, but I have no excuses after Saturday’s performance. Slow down and Kerrin McEvoy he rode behind him to keep up with him, but Celestial Legend didn’t seem interested. Hit the line in a straight ending midfield. It is impossible for him to win the Golden Eagle on the same track and distance within a few weeks.

Red Sea ($8.50) – Sandown R2 (1400m)

Sure, he was the third pick of the five, so he wasn’t exactly considered a single-digit pick, but he was still last in his two prep stints.

Brave Bastille ($4.20) – Valley (1200m)

She scalped Hayasugi early in their career, but the filly reversed that result a few months later – and 12 months after her debut, they are on different trajectories. One was driving in Manikato (didn’t start), the other in G3 Champagne (also didn’t start). The three are now undergoing these preparations, and she weakened over the distance of 1200 m, only to be beaten with a result of 3.66 l. In the match against Bellatrix Star, there was a regression.

Englishman ($6.50) – Sandown R4 (1800m)

We counted 17 single-digit losses for this horse (he won three of 25 overall), and 10 of those 17 were for less than $5. Even though he did a little wrong – he tripped out of the gate – and the jockey suggested tongue-tie, he’s already given us enough reasons to stay away for a while.

THE JURY IS NOT IN

Defender ($6) – Rosehill R8 (1400m)

We think we should ban this horse until he comes back as a gelding. Of course, this is a big distraction for the galloping athlete at the moment, and heading into Saturday’s Group 1 start, his mind certainly wasn’t on the right things.

Amelia’s Jewel (2.90 F) – Rosehill R7 (1400 m)

It’s crazy to think that this time last year this mare had the stature of Pride Of Jenni. The two have since gone their separate ways, and while Amelia’s Jewel is no slacker, her two runs here suggest she belongs as a Group 3 mare at best.

Veight ($11) – The Valley R7 (1200m)

In market terms, it was a little lower on the value scale, but was pretty poor without much excuse at face value. In January on this track/trip he took on Southport Tycoon in the Australia Stakes and chased him home to the Australian Guineas. Interestingly, Lane said he wasn’t disappointed with the performance, so maybe he feels he has more to offer in terms of fitness – it’s true, this is his first really poor performance in a while, so having him around the players might be a bit difficult. chopping block. But it is also a difficult time of year that you have to overcome.

Dawn Service ($3.70) – The Valley R6 (1600m)

He needs to torment the stallion a bit after the disappointment on Friday evening (no abnormalities were detected). A stable set that will help him back up when traveling. Flemington’s victory doesn’t look so good as the Daggers also missed shots in the same race. Then again, it was his first attempt on something harder than soft, so maybe we learned something there too.
